Inspired by the recent BBC Radio 3 Jazz Library programme on Buddy Rich.

What you need Bill is that Mosaic Argo/Verve Buddy Rich box !

What's in it? I already have:

Krupa and Rich

Harry Edison/Buddy Rich Quintet Complete Studio Recordings

Blues Caravan

Swingin'New Big Band

Big Swing Face

Rich in London

Thanks for the info, Bob. Quite a lot of overlap there. I think I'll stick with my little collection, perhaps adding a CD or two to it in the future.

Bill, I know what you mean. Quite a bit of the material was reissued over here on vinyl by Verve in the 1970s - especially the stuff with Sonny Criss and Sweets Edison. Philips also reissued 'Big Swing Face' - so I already had lots of this set on the black stuff. Good for the I-Pod though !

having bought it on vinyl on its release in 1960 and parted company with it a few years later.

Yikes ! Expensive mistake Bill (assume it was the London issue?). That one fetches big bucks these days.

c.1965 that was very low on my list of priorities. :smirk:

Got a relatively "good" deal on "The Complete Roulette Maynard Ferguson", the bands he had were GREAT. Also, great audio quality. I had to pull the trigger on this set sooner or later. Also, I have the Holman and Russo Kenton Mosaic set coming this week!!! I'm catching up on sets that I missed out on in the 90s, because I was too young to be hip to Mosaic. Also, looking forward to the Coleman Hawkins Mosaic coming out

Also have been on an Eddie "Lockjaw" Davis kick lately and have purchased an Arnett Cobb and Lockjaw session, also got the Complete Cookbook sessions from Solar, I had one session already, but felt it would be a good deal to get the set.

LOVE LOCKJAW!!! :w:g:tup He must have been INTIMIDATING on the band stand!

Another one that I owned c.1962 and then sold on for some reason. I must have been short of cash! Please don't tell me, Sidewinder, that in so doing I parted with a future fortune!

About £200-ish for a original 47W63rd in A-1 nick now, I think. :)

where as my NY mono - which sounds really great, cost me £15 about six months ago.

Generally I've been pretty good, but I did place an order with Dusty Groove (to use up my remaining credit):

Numero Group -- Eccentric Soul -- The Nickel & Penny Labels

Tom Ze -- Grande Liquidacao

and then over at Deep Discount (to basically draw down my Paypal account):
