ejp626
Well, my copy of Johnny Griffin's Take My Hand turned up, but it had this ridiculous cover and was probably some kind of a rip-off. It sounds ok and has the correct tracks (in a slightly jumbled order), so I probably won't go through the trouble of returning it. Anyway, this led me to go through Griffin's discography, and I learned about Birdology v. 1 and 2 where he is paired with Jackie McLean and a rhythm section of Duke Jordan, Ron Carter and Roy Haynes. I'd never heard of this. Even if it is just a blowing session, I felt I had better grab it. There are still some copies floating about for not too much. Then MG convinced me to picked up the Stitt 2-fer Move on Over: The Eddie Buster Sides. And I also ordered Ghana Special: Modern Highlife, Afro-Sounds and Ghanaian Blue 1968-1981 But other than that I've been good. (Hoping Santa will bring me Vonski Speaks.) The Magnificent Goldberg
Looks a very good bag! The only one I have is the Hawkins. I already had most of the tracks on the McDuffs, but the rest is new to me. Haven't heard the Hawk, Milt or Hopkins/Tate yet (saving the best for the last), but I'm very pleased with the rest. Norm
Just made my second purchase from Deep Discount (they're currently running a 30% off all CDs sale), plus they gave me a $5.00 coupon after I made my first purchase (HM Another Workout) to apply to this order. If you're not familiar with DD, they offer free shipping (and not tax!) on each individual item...that is, there is no minimum for free shipping. So here's what I picked up today, pretty conventional stuff: Bob Dylan - Blood on the Tracks SACD 6.99 Hank Mobley - No Room for Squares RVG 6.26 Grant Green - Feelin' the Spirit RVG 6.26 Wayne Shorter - Adam's Apple RVG 6.26 $5 coupon -5.00 Grand Total: $20.77 I think the sale runs through Nov. 29 so check it out, esp. if you are looking for Bluenote RVG remasters. deepdiscount.com
