jeffcrom
A cut-out copy of Sonny Rollins: The Freelance Years at a good price. I already had a couple of discs worth of this material, but I couldn't pass it up.
BillF
Herb Ellis -- "Nothing But the Blues" That's a great one, paps! I'm mad about Roy Eldridge's playing in the 50s. He's also fantastic on Mingus and Roach's Newport Rebels.

Just spinning my vinyl copy. Pleased to see Track 1 is called "Pap's Blues"! Note for Sidewinder: Bought this Japanese Verve re-issue in 1984 from Dobell's at their final resting place in a back street in Covent Garden. It was my one and only purchase from those premises; I never managed to find them again before they folded. Their inaccessibility was doubtless a factor in their collapse! sidewinder
Bought this Japanese Verve re-issue in 1984 from Dobell's at their final resting place in a back street in Covent Garden. It was my one and only purchase from those premises; I never managed to find them again before they folded. I vaguelly remember that place at that time - it was just off the route from my daily walk from Charing Cross Station to Bloomsbury (University area). If I remember right, there wasn't too much modern jazz in there. 'Honest Jons' in the vicinity (near Cambridge Circus I think) had more of the modern stuff. I have a couple of test pressings on Doug Dobell's '77' label picked up some years ago for £2 each from the late, lamented Mole jazz. One of those is a Pete Brown. Another one he arranged/funded of course was the Joe Harriott 'Swings High' on Melodisk. Most of the copies of that one must have been sold in the shop. Big Al
Beatles REVOLVER, Capitol mono, for $2. Sounds like it got some good use in the last 40 years, but for $2 to be able to watch that Capitol label swirl around while listening to "Tomorrow Never Knows".....
