Erik Weidinger
And without notice I came home with Duke Ellington fet. Mahalia Jackson: Black, Brown and Beige. It is the Columbia one cd album. I guess I have to find the 3 CD disc from RCA, or what do you mean about that? All in all a good day. Thanks to this forum and the recommended CDs in here. WorldB3
Booker Ervin - That's It Great record, you will love it. The book series gets all the praise as it should but That's It gets over looked. Picked this up earlier in the week: At first I was worried that there was no Nate Smith or Steve Nelson on this but I love Eric Harland and Mulgrew Miller on here. It is good.

papsrus
Well, this is a first. I ordered "Blood, Drum, Spirit Royal Hartigan Ensemble Live In China" about a week ago. It arrived today, but ... ... no discs inside. It was sealed and there was no evidence of tampering at all. Just an empty jewel case. Different cover art, too, but who cares about that. Has anyone had this happen? I emailed the seller (Import CD Specialists) and they replied that amazon policy limits them to issuing a refund upon return of the jewel case. In other words, they won't send me the discs (with or without another jewel case). I guess that makes sense. But I've had a couple of screwed up orders with amazon marketplace sellers before and usually they're so eager to get a good seller rating they'll just refund you the purchase price no questions asked, no need to mail anything back. It's a hassle. And just odd to get an empty jewel case in the mail. I was looking forward to this one, too. papsrus
While reordering the above album from another seller, couldn't resist tossing this one in the cart: Dizzy Gillespie -- "Showtime at the Spotlite, 52nd Street, New York City, June 1946" Edited November 7, 2008 by papsrus

BillF
I've had a couple of screwed up orders with amazon marketplace sellers before and usually they're so eager to get a good seller rating they'll just refund you the purchase price no questions asked, no need to mail anything back. That's been my experience, too. I recently ordered for £6.48 a used copy of the 2CD Miles Davis item, The Complete Concert 1964; "My Funny Valentine" and "Four & More" from an American seller called wherehouse, which sent me the single CD My Funny Valentine. When I emailed them, they gave a full refund and told me to keep the disc. I've now made up the set by buying Four & More separately for £4.00. Sorry to hear about the jewel case business! papsrus
Sorry to hear about the jewel case business! Thanks. In the end, I viewed it as sort of a cosmic practical joke. Somebody up there is trying to tell me something, maybe. I remain undeterred, however. Edited November 7, 2008 by papsrus
The Magnificent Goldberg
This one turned up today Been a bit busy, so I've only just got round to listening to it. (I've skipped "Black cat" as I've had it for ages and I'm just listening to the material I've never heard before.) And I'm sitting here and just letting it wash over me without really trying to take it in. And it's joyous and hot and heavy. There's a bonus track done at the Watts Jazz Festival with the rhythm section of the Gerald Wilson orch - "Here's that rainy day", with Harold Land Jr, Johnny Williams and Paul Humphrey - which is wonderful, too. Damn me, but I'm glad to get this one!!!!! Thanks to whoever started that thread! MG
papsrus
Listening to MOPDTK's "Shamokin!!!" prompted me to grab this one, from CD Universe. I like wintersway's description: "It's bop that has a sharp stick to poke at cliches!!" As one might gather from the band's name to the album titles, this is loose, fun, edgy, ragged, a little over-the-top, irreverent <------ like that. The Magnificent Goldberg
This just arrived Haven't had a chance to listen to it yet, but I'm pleased already. Haven't heard this album since about 1966, when I listened to my mate's copy. MG
