Liked the Brass Shout album as expected, and Aztec Suite was better than I expected (granted, I may have been overly influenced by AMG reviewer comments). Back in the 70s I heard some of this music but never ran across CD reissues at an affordable price. Her new release "Let Freedom Swing" inspired me to order this set comprised of 5 lps recorded and released on the RCA family of labels and I'm very happy that I did. To begin, she's one heck of a composer and arranger-highly inventive. I especially enjoy her writing for reeds, her highly imaginative use of color and the sheer energy with which these compositions inspire her musicians. Like Ellington she writes for specific soloists and voices, her orchestra is truly her instrument. This has to be, in my mind, one of the best reissues of the year!!! Speaking of which, Holland has been a part of some really great albums, hasn't he? -- "Extensions," "Conference of the Birds," Braxton's "Dortmund," and "Montreux/Berlin," "Circle, Paris Concert," "Bitch's Brew," to name a few.
