Paul Motian:

--- On Broadway Vol. 1

--- On Broadway Vol. 2

--- I Have The Room Above Her

Paul Motian and the Electric BeBop Band:

--- Reincarnation Of A Love Bird

Music From Scrubs. I love this tv series. Is it sick that I can name each scene for every song on this cd?

All excellent IMO! On Broadway Vol. 2 is probably my favorite of the series, and Reincarnation Of A Love Bird is one of the better E.B.B.B. releases. :tup

Well, on Saturday, the postman brought this

c474.jpg

which is vol 1 of a set of two that I ordered together, but which have been despatched separately.

c475.jpg

These two CDs contain all the tracks from three LPs

Sax 5th Avenue - by Johnny Beecher (a pseudonym) - Charter 102 (1963)

On the scene - by Johnny Beecher (a pseudonym) - Charter 104 (1963)

(I have a couple of 45s of the Charter material)

Blue martini - by Plas Johnson - Ava 24 (1964)

Unfortunately, they don't appear to have included the best of these Charter tracks - "Jack sax the city" which JUMPS! (Though that may have been a retitling ofr the British issue of something that I'll find on vol 2.)

The Charter material has the great Bert Kendricks on organ. Kendricks is best known for playing on Jimmy Witherspoon's "Evenin' blues".

The Ava material has an orchestral accompaniment.

Very nice stuff!

And today, volume 2 arrived. I am very pissed off that none of the tracks has turned out to be a renamed "Jack sax the city". Thank God I have the 45! (Should have put it in the BFT.)

I stopped by Zweitausendeins this afternoon.

The last item was free 'cause the fellow showed me that there were

some scuffs on it and didn't feel right for selling it at €5!

More retailers should work this way. :tup

Jan Garbarek: Afric Pepperbird (€8) - < ECM >

Guillermo Gregorio Trio: Red Cube(d) (€5) - <hatOLOGY >

Garbarek/Stenson/Rypdal/Andersen/Christensen: Sart (€8) - < ECM >

Franz Koglmann: O Moon My Pin-Up (€5) - < hatOLOGY >

Volker Kriegel: Spectrum (€8) - < MPS >

Albert Mangelsdorff/Wolfgang Dauner: Two Is Company (€8) - < MOOD >

Matthew Shipp String Trio: Expansion, Power, Release (€5) - < hatOLOGY >

Rajesh Mehta Solos & Duos (feat. Paul Lovens): Orka (Free) - < hatOLOGY >

All sealed copies except for the two ECMs and, of course, the freebie.

I saw more, but I'm gonna wait.

Nice haul. What city are you in?
This was at the little Köln shop.

I've got some discs in my Amazon cart

that I saw at "2001" for quite a bit less,

so I may be springin' for those as well.

God, what a habit... ;)

Just curious...

never understood why they always have these unattractive new cds at high prices standing between the good stuff, maybe for people who listen to new releases...

strange thing about the cheap old ecms is that many stores had them before 2001 at the same prices (Mr. Music in Bonn for instance which I treasure as the only decent record store in town but which is usually much slower than 2001)
