These two CDs contain all the tracks from three LPs Sax 5th Avenue - by Johnny Beecher (a pseudonym) - Charter 102 (1963) On the scene - by Johnny Beecher (a pseudonym) - Charter 104 (1963) (I have a couple of 45s of the Charter material) Blue martini - by Plas Johnson - Ava 24 (1964) Unfortunately, they don't appear to have included the best of these Charter tracks - "Jack sax the city" which JUMPS! (Though that may have been a retitling ofr the British issue of something that I'll find on vol 2.) The Charter material has the great Bert Kendricks on organ. Kendricks is best known for playing on Jimmy Witherspoon's "Evenin' blues". The Ava material has an orchestral accompaniment. Very nice stuff! And today, volume 2 arrived. I am very pissed off that none of the tracks has turned out to be a renamed "Jack sax the city". Thank God I have the 45! (Should have put it in the BFT.)
