Saw him with Elvin - I think it was back in ‘79 (seems like an eternity ago). Next tour though he had Pat LaBarbara on tenor.

He used to come to town regularly with Kahil El Zabar and the Ethnic Heritage Ensemble.  It could sometimes take him a while to get "wound up."  But when he did, watch out!  His playing could be mesmerizing.

Excellent disc. I bought the cd from Amazon. The Asian Improv Bandcamp is more of Francis’ page than that of the label.
