I've streamed In Sommerhausen a few weeks ago and thought it sounded great ... Probably helped that the music is so good... And, indeed, it would be super weird if this wasn't the same version as on the CD - but I'm fairly ignorant about audio matters so curious about everyone else's verdict

Yeah, Sommerhausen is fine streaming. A little on the LOUD side but not problematic.

I never had any problems with the sound of the original LPs so if they are indeed needle-drops from mint copies they should be okay.

That Jackson article is great, yes, been ages since I read it. I guess he lived right around where I am now.

What is not indicated in the article was that I interviewed Mr. Jackson while he was in hospice care and that he nearly died during the interview (and did a couple of days later).

CD sounds fine to me. I wouldn't rule out a needle-drop (maybe the CD sound lacks a bit of "imaging", whatever that might be), but if so it wasn't a botched one.
