colinmce Posted July 2 Report Posted July 2 Wow. Interested in the Nate Morgan session, but the Mateen & Hart ones sound incredible. Quote
Jim Duckworth Posted July 2 Report Posted July 2 Love Sabir Mateen-only wondering if those of us for whom vinyl is not the medium of choice will get other options... Quote
sidewinder Posted July 2 Report Posted July 2 Got the email too so hopefully my full set minus vol 1 will be on its way across the 'oggin shortly. Quote
jcam_44 Posted July 3 Author Report Posted July 3 I sprung for the 3 new LPs. It’s just money I guess Quote
Pim Posted July 3 Report Posted July 3 Got the PayPal notice as well. Great news. Very much looking forward to these cds. The new Sabir Mateen also sparks my interest. Did I understand well that the Nate Morgan is a solo record? Quote

jcam_44 Posted July 4 Author Report Posted July 4 I’ll probably digitize the new record as soon as I get them if anyone want to hear samples. Quote
Hoppy T. Frog Posted July 12 Report Posted July 12 How am I a subscriber and yet I never get these emails? I also seem ti get the sets after you all. Oh well, at least I do indeed get the subscription I paid for eventually. Also I wish they would stop it with releasing every album in a different different format weirdness, I would much rather have a CD or legitimate download of the Century City Playhouse album, for example, than a super expensive record set that I don't have room for. You could just send Matt an email. And about the format: each has his preference right? I loved the 3lp set. Not sure Nimbus is big enough a company to release everything on two different formats. I have received downloads from a few LP only labels where download wasn't an option but they were happy to send me the digital files but admittedly I had originally purchased the LP versions - I contacted the label directly & they were obliging Quote
romualdo Posted July 17 Report Posted July 17 Nimbus West has just added a second Tapscott/PAPA download (only) https://www.nimbuswestrecords.com/shop-5/p/pan-afrikan-peoples-arkestra-the-lost-reel Pan Afrikan Peoples Arkestra - Live at Century City Playhouse “THE LOST REEL” Recorded September 9th, 1979. Century City Playhouse “The Lost Reel ” was discovered while going thru reels for the IUCC series, two tracks spliced onto a single reel and left unlabelled.. If you’ve heard the 3LP set that documents the “full concert” then you know that this was a special evening, one of the most powerful and well-recorded live shows in the entire history of the Arkestra! “Crepuscule with Nellie” and “Nation Rising” are equal to anything on the 3LP set, from delicate to raging these 21 minutes act as a sort of seventh side to the legendary 3LP set. Essential! PAN AFRIKAN PEOPLES ARKESTRA “THE LOST REEL” 1.) Crepuscule with Nellie (5:16) 2.) Nation Rising (16:39) recorded by Bruce Bidlack produced by Tom Albach Quote
Pim Posted August 22 Report Posted August 22 Anyone recieved the full set already? I paid my shipping fee early July but haven’t got any confirmation or something like that Quote
romualdo Posted August 23 Report Posted August 23 the final three in the series have not been released yet - website lists these as "coming soon", so once they're available I'd say they'll be shipped out to us Quote

As there does not seem to be a logical chronological order I’ve lost track of what had been released and what’s still left. Quote
jcam_44 Posted October 1 Author Report Posted October 1 (edited) Just got a pending delivery notice for today from Albuquerque. Should be something from Nimbus I suspect. edit: my suspicion was incorrect unfortunately. Edited October 1 by jcam_44 Quote
Pim Posted October 1 Report Posted October 1 Whoops I almost forgot about the series. It’s been a while since payment now. Hope it will arrive this year Quote
sidewinder Posted October 1 Report Posted October 1 (edited) Must admit that I'm starting to lose patience with this one. A year's delay on the series is unacceptable and to ask for payment for shipping 'imminent' then not to follow up just makes things worse. I won't be ordering anything else from there. clifford_thornton Posted October 1 Report Posted October 1 If Dusty stocks 'em I will grab. It is a bit tiring, I must admit. Quote
felser Posted October 2 Report Posted October 2 I subscribed to the series and am fine being patient. They are a very small operation, clearly in it for the love of the (glorious) music rather than for money. Very pleased with what they've released so far. Quote

(And also a non-zero chance that it is never completed.) This was a good forecast, unfortunately. Quote

Very pleased with what they've released so far. that's true, but the initial hype versus the delivery time ratio is a bit lopsided in my opinion. Quote
