Not much to add but this is pretty devastating news. RIP, a huge legacy.

Very strange coincidence but right as I read this news I was replaying film of him on the TV playing with Miles in 1969 in that Ronnie Scott documentary.

When you think about the breadth and duration of his career--not to mention the talent--Wayne belongs in a very, very small group of musicians that includes Duke Ellington, Mary Lou Williams, and Miles Davis. His legacy is immense. What a blessing that he stopped here on the planet for as long as he did.

The ballads are everything. It's ALL there, now and forever.

Infant Eyes, Teru, Penelope, Nefertiti, Fall, Diana, Miyako, Black Swan, Blackthorn Rose, Contemplation, Sleeping Dancer Sleep On, Iris, Calm, Virgo, Sweet Pea, Starry Night, Lady Day, When You Dream, Ana Maria, Vonetta ...

Wayne's not gone. ALL that music ends up being full-sized life, and it will hopefully always be here.

RIP

A very kind  sensitive, and empathetic man in my experience. Those human qualities played into his music.

And funny too. I loved seeing interviews with him. What a great run by a brilliant artist! R.I.P.
