Pim Posted March 1, 2023 Report Posted March 1, 2023 (edited) I don't think theres a thread on these yet? I own around ten now and must say I am very satisfied with sound and packaging. New schedule for this year was pronounced this january: March 31 1971 Impulse - Alice Coltrane / Journey In Satchidananda April 28 1965 Verve - Wynton Kelly Trio and Wes Montgomery / Smokin' At The Half Note May 26 1966 Philips - Nina Simone / Wild Is The Wind June 23 1962 Verve - Stan Getz and Charlie Byrd / Jazz Samba July 28. (BG cut classic records) 1958 Verve - Billie Holiday / Songs For Distingue Lovers Aug 25 1960 Mercury - Cannonball Adderley Quintet / In Chicago Sept 29 1961 Mercury - Charles Mingus / Pre-Bird Oct 27 (BG cut classic records) 1960 Verve - Ella Fitzgerald / Let No Man Write My Epitaph Nov 17 1962 Verve - Oscar Peterson Trio with Milt Jackson / Very Tall Dec 8. (BG cut classic records) 1959 Verve - Coleman Hawkins / Coleman Hawkins Encounters Ben Webster Jan 2024 1962 Impulse - Roy Haynes / Out Of The Afternoon Feb 2024 (announced by Chad) mono 1958 Verve - Ben Webster / Soulville Now Chad Kassem isn't really known for being an adventourus guy.... I even heard someone say he isn't really into jazz. When he announced the Karma reissue he couldn't even hide his own dislike of it which I think is ridiculous. Thank God the guy was prepared to do one more 'free' record but only if Karma sold well. And of course it did.... So happy to see the Alice Coltrane in the list. I'll get the Billie Holiday record and I love that Ella Fitzgerald record. Really would like to hear those intimate duets in best possible sound quality so I'll jump on that one too. Part from that: a pretty boring list with a lot of usual suspects that I already own. The upside of the series is it's overall quality: I am very happy with the issues I own. The downside is their uninspired program and the fact that they don't a lot of reissues and even then every one of them get's postponed endlessly.... They can't make a single deadline.
