is it considered "political" to point out that the daughter of this board's founder is attending Michigan State where there was recently a shooting? She and her roommates are  now safe at Jim's but shouldn't we be offering support to him after what was a  terrible experience?

It was a real life drama to follow his posts on Facebook.  I was so relieved to read she was safe. Those gun fanatics are madmen.

Glad they're OK. This American phenomenon must seem so weird and grotesque to other parts of the world. Meanwhile its a way of life here with some real trauma to victims families and survivors.

Glad she’s okay. I have to say that to me, as a high school teacher, it’s just unimaginable that there are security gates at my work place. I’m happy you can smoke some weed here but can’t wear a gun. I am pretty sure the last one kills more. Maybe I did make it political now. Sorry if I have.

2020 US traffic deaths: 38,680

2020 US gun deaths: 45,222

And this was 2020, when less people were driving on the roads due to the COVID pandemic.

It's not political to say that guns are a problem. It's political when you talk about how to solve that problem.

Yes, gun deaths, auto deaths, overdose deaths (80,000 in 2021) and suicides (45,799 in 2020) are huge problems receiving way too little concern.  So thankful Jim's daughter is OK, and pray that trauma for her and others will not be long-lasting.
