Larry Kart Posted February 15, 2023 Report Posted February 15, 2023 Anyone familiar with this tenor saxophonist? Was Listening to a Mike Longo CD "2 My Surprise" and Bryant made me perk up my ears, He was, as we used to say, "blowing snakes." Looks like he might be in his 40s. Good album all in all --Jimmy Owens on trumpet, Lewis Nash, Bob Cranshaw, and Longo can certainly play. Quote
Larry Kart Posted February 15, 2023 Author Report Posted February 15, 2023 I found that site, but what I wanted to know was whether anyone here had heard him and dug him. Interesting that Bryant came from the Chicago area because he reminds me just a bit of the late Nicky Hill. Quote
relyles Posted February 15, 2023 Report Posted February 15, 2023 I have heard Bryant live a couple of times in groups led by drummer Yoron Israel, as well as on a couple of recordings. I have dug his contribution to the music when I heard him. Quote
Justin V Posted February 15, 2023 Report Posted February 15, 2023 I've never seen him live, but I enjoy his playing on two Yoron Israel albums. He's also recorded with Abdullah Ibrahim, Steve Coleman and Lionel Hampton! Quote
