Brandon Burke Posted March 31, 2004 Report Posted March 31, 2004 It's a no-brainer. Diamond Dave all the way. Quote
Noj Posted March 31, 2004 Report Posted March 31, 2004 I like the first four, they are the soundtrack for a lot of my elementary school memories... I don't like Van Hagar. So even though Diamond Dave's done nothing but get weirder and weirder, he gets the nod. Quote
Soulstation1 Posted March 31, 2004 Author Report Posted March 31, 2004 noj have you seen them play live? ss1 Quote
Noj Posted March 31, 2004 Report Posted March 31, 2004 Nope. I've only been to a few concerts in my whole life. My oldest brother went to TONS, and saw Van Halen several times I'm sure. My first concert was The Red Hot Chili Peppers at the Greek Theatre, with the Meat Puppets opening, around 1990. Quote
Soulstation1 Posted March 31, 2004 Author Report Posted March 31, 2004 (edited) i've seen them on the 1984 tour 5150 tour 0U812 tour my first concert was the cars "shake it up" tour. Edited March 31, 2004 by Soulstation1 Quote
Rooster_Ties Posted March 31, 2004 Report Posted March 31, 2004 How's Eddie's health these days?? Didn't he have cancer of the mouth, or tongue, or throat - or something like that?? How's he looking?? Last I saw (at least a couple years ago, maybe 3 or 4 even), he didn't look so good -- maybe from chemo treatments at the time?? What's the story?? Quote
Jazzmoose Posted March 31, 2004 Report Posted March 31, 2004 Never could stand this band, no matter what the frontman... Quote
Noj Posted March 31, 2004 Report Posted March 31, 2004 For every Offspring, there's a Van Halen...they're guilty pleasures for good reason. Quote
PHILLYQ Posted March 31, 2004 Report Posted March 31, 2004 I remember them described as 'One guy with talent and three without'... Quote
7/4 Posted March 31, 2004 Report Posted March 31, 2004 The Dave years were the best. But are they REALLY getting back together and touring? This is an old rumor. Quote
7/4 Posted March 31, 2004 Report Posted March 31, 2004 Wow! I checked the web site and they really are touring. Quote
7/4 Posted March 31, 2004 Report Posted March 31, 2004 Hmmm....look at the calendar, Thursday is April 1st. Quote

AfricaBrass Posted March 31, 2004 Report Posted March 31, 2004 The Dave years were the best. But are they REALLY getting back together and touring? This is an old rumor. I heard Sammy talking about it on Howard Stern the other day. I think it's true. I always liked VH better with Dave, but have you seen him lately? (IMO) They're probably better off with Sammy now. I did see Eddie at the NAMM show last year. He didn't look too good. Quote
PHILLYQ Posted March 31, 2004 Report Posted March 31, 2004 I saw a full page ad in the Village Voice for Van Halen- they're going with the original lineup. Quote
Jazzdog Posted April 1, 2004 Report Posted April 1, 2004 I saw a full page ad in the Village Voice for Van Halen- they're going with the original lineup. If by original lineup, you are referring to the one with Sammy Hagar, you would be correct. Tickets are on sale now!! http://www.van-halen.com/newsite/news.html Don't they all just look WAY too excited? Quote
7/4 Posted April 1, 2004 Report Posted April 1, 2004 I always liked VH better with Dave, but have you seen him lately? He was touring and playing 99% early VH material. I'd rather go hear him! Quote
AfricaBrass Posted April 1, 2004 Report Posted April 1, 2004 I always liked VH better with Dave, but have you seen him lately? He was touring and playing 99% early VH material. I'd rather go hear him! He just creeps me out with that perma-grin of his. I wouldn't want my good memories of early VH to be tainted by seeing them now. Quote
7/4 Posted April 1, 2004 Report Posted April 1, 2004 His book is a good read, once you get used to his writing style. Quote

AfricaBrass Posted April 1, 2004 Report Posted April 1, 2004 His book is a good read, once you get used to his writing style. I'd like to read it. I bet it would be interesting. I'd also like to find out what he's smoking... It looks like he's having fun. B) Quote
