minew Posted March 30, 2004 Report Posted March 30, 2004 (edited) The Peter Brotzmann Tentet, on a rare if not unprecedented tour through the South, will perform in New Orleans at the Contemporary Arts Center on April 6 at 8:00 PM. Tickets are available from the CAC at cacno.org This version of the Tentet includes Brotzmann, Ken Vandermark, Joe McPhee, Jeb Bishop, Kent Kessler, Michael Zerang, and Mats Gustafson among others. Earlier that same day, Vandermark and Paal Nilssen-Love will appear on the Tulane University campus for a workshop/discussion/performance on free jazz/improvised music. This will be similar to the program Vandermark did at the Jazz Institute in Chicago recently. The Vandermark event is at 12:30 PM on April 6 at the Rogers Memorial Chapel on the TU campus (corner Zimple and Broadway). Free and open to the public. Come on down! Guest Chaney Posted April 5, 2004 Report Posted April 5, 2004 I'd dearly LOVE to attend this concert. Any chance you'd be able to swing by the Buffalo area and pick me up on your way to the show? If not -- and if you're attending -- be sure to file a full report, ya lucky bastard! Quote
minew Posted April 6, 2004 Author Report Posted April 6, 2004 Will do. BTW, they're on to Austin in a few days. Not too late to find that cheap fare on Orbitz! Quote
epistrophy arts Posted April 7, 2004 Report Posted April 7, 2004 I got word that Mars Williams has left the tour in Ahtens. So it will be a nonet or a ninetet in NOLA and in Austin. 10 or 9, I'm sure it will be every bit as powerful! You can catch them in Austin on Thursday night. Quote
