Larry Kart Posted January 19, 2023 Report Posted January 19, 2023 If you can find a copy, grab Barron's 1962 album "The Hot Line" (Savoy -- probably the last of his Savoy dates; I have it on a mono LP), which pairs him with Booker Ervin, backed by brother Kenny, Larry Ridley, and Andrew Cyrille. As might be expected, Barron and Ervin make for good company, with the former perhaps stimulated by Ervin to play in a more in agitated "blowing" manner than usual. In any case, agitated Barron is great to hear. Quote
mjzee Posted January 19, 2023 Report Posted January 19, 2023 I have this on a Fresh Sound twofer, which also contains "The Tenor Stylings Of..." and "Modern Windows." All are excellent. Quote
JSngry Posted January 19, 2023 Report Posted January 19, 2023 Andrew Cyrille drives the bus on this one! Quote

Late Posted February 13, 2023 Report Posted February 13, 2023 Dig Barron's solos on this one: Philly Joe Jones • Showcase Bill's not even listed on the cover. Quote
clifford_thornton Posted February 13, 2023 Report Posted February 13, 2023 Yeah, that's a nice one. Quote
