mjzee Posted December 11, 2022 Report Posted December 11, 2022 59 minutes ago, Steve Reynolds said: Garcia said something like this “right now this is the greatest group on the planet” Jerry never had any ideas about the Dead being “big” in that sense. Plus “big” in 1967 & early 1968 wasn’t what “big” would be in the early 70’s when bands started filling large arenas and then stadiums. Wish I could find the quote. Thought it was in Lesh’s autobiography, but no. Quote
Teasing the Korean Posted December 11, 2022 Report Posted December 11, 2022 (edited) I will also respectfully disagree with the comments made regarding "Goin' Home." I think it is brilliant. As to how much is improvised or planned, I don't know. The Stones recorded enough music for a two-album Aftermath, and in the version I sequenced, I end side 4 with it. Here it is, four sides, each clocking in at 18 minutes: Side 1: Paint It Black Stupid Girl Lady Jane Under My Thumb Doncha Bother Me Think Side 2: Flight 505 High And Dry It’s Not Easy I Am Waiting Out Of Time (Long version from UK Aftermath) Side 3: 19th Nervous Breakdown Long, Long While Sad Day If You Let Me Ride On, Baby Sittin' On A Fence Side 4: Mother’s Little Helper What To Do Take It Or Leave It Goin' Home I used the MONO versions from the Stones in Mono box set, which Ms. TTK received from me for Xmas a few years back. I had no idea all these years that my US mono Aftermath was a fold-down. It was great to hear the real mono mixes for the first time! Shifting gears, has anyone mentioned "Sister Ray" by the Velvets?
