Chuck Nessa Posted December 4, 2022 Report Posted December 4, 2022 On the Saturday after Thanksgiving we rode downtown (Chicago) to deliver a computer monitor to Carla's workplace and had an auto accident. Some Bozo blew a stoplight and hit the rear wheel of our car. He split the scene. $3000 damage to the suspension system. Only 3100 miles on the car - we got it in April. Because of supply problems, we might not get the car back until 2023. Quote
Dan Gould Posted December 4, 2022 Report Posted December 4, 2022 Wow, that sucks. I have my own. Kicked by one of our horses last week. Non-displaced fracture of right forearm. Due to crappy HMO god knows when I will see orthopedist for casting. OTOH a few inches to left and would have been ribs and/or spine. The latter might have f-ed up the rest of my days, so there's that! Quote
Rooster_Ties Posted December 4, 2022 Report Posted December 4, 2022 Ouch! (Dan) — and, indeed Chuck, that car accident really does suck, especially to such a new car. Is your insurance paying for a rental, even though it’s gonna take extra long to get parts? (Sure hope so.) Quote
JSngry Posted December 4, 2022 Report Posted December 4, 2022 Did this hit and run occur in an area where there might be surveillance video available? Quote

Teasing the Korean Posted December 4, 2022 Report Posted December 4, 2022 Wow, this sucks for everyone. Either your transportation gets destroyed, or your transportation fractures your arm. Positive vibes to both of you! Quote

Dan Gould Posted December 6, 2022 Report Posted December 6, 2022 Update, for those curious: Primary care doc (whose specialty is non-surgical orthopedics, among other things) felt that it does not need a cast and will heal in about six weeks. This was verified this morning with new imaging of forearm, wrist and elbow - only forearm was damaged by Penny's half-hearted kick. Fortunately. Improvement is such that I am once again typing with two hands so ... very thankful it wasn't way worse as it would have been if she hit my torso, and no cast is a great relief too. Quote
HutchFan Posted December 6, 2022 Report Posted December 6, 2022 (edited) In reference to the post by @Dan Gould: Glad to hear that your injury isn't too terribly bad. Good that Penny's kick was less than full-strength. Edited December 6, 2022 by HutchFan Quote

GA Russell Posted December 7, 2022 Report Posted December 7, 2022 Chuck and Dan, I'm sorry to hear of your problems. Glad to hear that apparently in both cases there were no very serious injuries. Doesn't it seem like December is usually when these things happen, just when you don't need any extra aggravation or expenses? Quote
Dan Gould Posted December 7, 2022 Report Posted December 7, 2022 Thanks, Hutch, Chuck and GA. Now I plan to milk the injury as long as I can, to avoid offloading any hay bales until well into 2023. 😁 Quote
