Hardbopjazz Posted November 27, 2022 Report Posted November 27, 2022 Are any of you using "The Cloud" to store your CDs and albums? I found a site, TeraBox, that gives you 1 TB of free storage. I started moving my CDs to there so I can access my music anywhere. It also serves as a backup if ever I lose a CD or album, I have a copy some place. Quote
Big Al Posted November 27, 2022 Report Posted November 27, 2022 Looks interesting. Are you able to play your music from the cloud or do you have to download the music to your device? Quote
Hardbopjazz Posted November 27, 2022 Author Report Posted November 27, 2022 I believe you have to download. I haven't really tried yet. I just started to use this tonight. Quote
Kevin Bresnahan Posted November 27, 2022 Report Posted November 27, 2022 Even if you use one of these cloud servers, you should still have a local back-up of your most prized files. These is nothing in your service contract with any cloud company saying, "We will never go out of business". Quote
Milestones Posted September 2, 2023 Report Posted September 2, 2023 (edited) Hardbop, So what does that mean--put the music back into the main computer to play it properly and then take it off from there and put back into the cloud when done listening? I still cannot figure out the cloud (and for that matter external HD) when it comes to playing the sequence of an album. I can only get one track at a time, thus constant stop-and-go. tranemonk Posted September 5, 2023 Report Posted September 5, 2023 Long story short... - 98% of my 4,000 CDs are on Apple's iCloud servers. I only kept 20% of the CDs (Mosaic sets and other key choices) and Apple messed up and didn't copy/lost the other 2%. Every now and then I've downloaded parts of the collection but have never downloaded the entire thing because it takes forever. It's kinda locked me into using Apple's Music Service but I'm in their ecosystem anyway. If I had to do it all over again, I'd keep everything locally, backed up twice and I would upload nothing. Stonewall15 Posted September 6, 2023 Report Posted September 6, 2023 Sad story. Very good advice! Quote
Ken Dryden Posted December 13, 2023 Report Posted December 13, 2023 I can’t imagine taking the time to upload my collection, I don’t have enough time to hear all of the new acquisitions and releases as it is. Quote

Don't know which service you're talking about, but mine actually uploads it for me. I don't have to do a thing. Quote
