Bill Nelson Posted October 12, 2022 Report Posted October 12, 2022 In 1965, the newly divorced Anita Kerr moved from Nashville to L.A. and recorded an LP with Marty Paich arranging. Here, Kerr's lead vocal suggests Bonnie Herman and the Singers Unlimited, who followed in 1972. Quote
Teasing the Korean Posted October 12, 2022 Author Report Posted October 12, 2022 That was great. I love this: Quote

You might want to learn about The J's with Jamie. Or not. But...they are an important vocal group that worked mostly in jingles. But hugely important anyway, becuase they were the best at it. Quote
Bill Nelson Posted October 12, 2022 Report Posted October 12, 2022 Already learnt -- having got the two J's with Jamie on ABC Paramount and the two more on Columbia. To me, Jamie's voice doesn't have the honey-dripping, buttery quality of Anita or Bonnie. YMMV. Quote
JSngry Posted October 13, 2022 Report Posted October 13, 2022 You should hear her sing about a refrigerator. Quote
Teasing the Korean Posted October 14, 2022 Author Report Posted October 14, 2022 (edited) The best group singers of that era had voices without a lot of "color" to them. This allowed them to blend well. They would not necessarily top your list of solo singers, if you heard them solo, but they are very effective in group settings. I would place both Anita Kerr and Bonnie Herman in this category. Edited October 15, 2022 by Teasing the Korean Quote
