Tried to add it to my cart, and it says it’s already gone — despite the main page saying 1 copy is available.

A friend hooked me up with burns of this set about 6 months ago, until I could find a real one that wouldn’t break the bank.

Not in a huge rush, but if anyone has any more leads for something under $40, that’d be awesome. Thx!

Sometimes you can check back in a few days and the item mysteriously reappears. I've had that happen a few times on Decluttr.

You have to watch them, their inspection process sometimes leaves a lot to be desired...

Yeah, I need this too -- have the LP and rips of the extra tracks, but would like it all on CD!

I actually sold this 3 CD set a long time ago. I found myself playing the released stuff and stopping when I got to the bonus material. I wasn't much of a fan of the extra tracks without Elvin Jones, especially the partial tracks at the beginning of disc 2.

I've only spun the whole thing (the burns I have) about 3-4 times -- and I had a similar experience with the bonus CD's the first time I put them on.  But then the next time through, I was a lot more positive about them (very specifically remember that).  3rd and 4th times I'm not sure if I remember anything specific about them (pro or con).  So I guess the jury's still a little bit out for me, and I would likely give the entire thing a few more spins before I dropped more than $35 on one.  That said, I still am on the lookout for one.

Inspired me to pull my copy out and take a run through the whole thing. No qualms here about the extra material, I could go all day with this stuff. Pretty incredible that something like this was able to be released to the mass market at one point in time.

A used copy of the 3cd expanded version just sold on Dusty Groove — less than a hour after it was listed online — for $60.

More than I want to pay, but I guess if it sold that fast, then I suppose it’s priced right with what the market will bear.

In this case, it was gone before I even had the chance. Not sure I would have gotten it though, for that much over $50.

FWIW, the set is offered at $60 + $4.99 domestic US shipping on discogs, so that DG price is consistent. (Based on a limited sample. 😄)

I’m pretty positive DG uses Discogs to help with their pricing decisions — can almost prove it, but I’ll have to dig around to find the example I saw that led me to that conclusion.

OK, not quite the “smoking gun” I was remembering — but, still, I can so easily see their pricing worker-bee looking up the one without ANY sales history, and figuring “hell, I guess it’s pretty rare, let’s try $25” — without realizing there was an entirely separate entity (which does NOT have the same root ‘master’ record — so they look like different releases on Discogs, but they’re exactly the same).

At least that’s the entirety plausible story I saw unfold in my head, as I was puzzling over why the heck I’d just found one for $6, and here DG’s trying to get $25 for one.

That Nistico CD example is bizarre, because even freakin' eBay 🤔 has the Just Jazz release much cheaper than DG's price.

Maybe your theory is right.

you are correct. Sometimes they price using the wrong edition, as you have noted.

I also was bummed I missed that Konitz set. I have a rip of the tracks, as well as the original Verve LP, but would love to have a copy of the full banana.
