Rabshakeh
I love the combination: joint piano and vibes front line, with intricate traded solos, with or without a rhythm section or an occasional horn. There's obviously the classic Hutcherson / Hancock Blue Notes and the MJQ. I would also include Oscar Peterson and Milt Jackson on Pablo, Khan Jamal and Matthew Ship, and Burton's Hotel Hello with Steve Swallow on electric piano. What are.some other examples I'm missing? JSngry
Can't believe I'm saying this, but Lionel Hampton & Oscar Peterson. Already mentioned, I see. Good call!
Rabshakeh
I really enjoy that record Peterson did with Milt Jackson too. Vibes seem to tame the beast. I do really think that the two instruments have a magical sympathy.

B. Clugston
Teddy Charles and Hall Overton, 3 for Duke with Oscar Pettiford. Excellent all-Ellington album. Walt Dickerson with Sun Ra, Impressions of a Patch of Blue
NIS
"Under The Double Moon" by Anthony Davis and Jay Hoggard is a really good album. Do not know if it ever came out on CD and may be OOP but worth looking into. Spotify maybe. A couple thing a little different are Mattias Stahl/Sten Sandell - "Gran Musik (Clean Feed) and Futari (which is Taiko Saito - marimba and vibes and Satoko Fujii - piano) "underground" (Libra). This instrumentation is a favorite for me too.

mhatta
My all-time favorite jazz is Milt Jackson Quartet, which is Milt / Horace Silver. The sound is very different from MJQ, and Horace is a superb accompanist. The combination of Milt with Monty Alexander is also good.
Milestones
I really enjoy the combination of Tyner and Hutcherson. There was one with only the two players--the relatively obscure Manhattan Moods. I think there were just two in the quartet format: Time for Tyner and (much later) Land of Giants. Hutch appeared a few times in larger Tyner groups.

Ken Dryden
Joe Locke and David Hazeltine recorded at lest two excellent CDs for harp Nine. Locke recorded a duo CD with Kenny Barron for SteepleChase as well. I nearly forgot Kenny Barton’s excellent small group with Stefan Harris, which I saw live during visit to NYC.
