rachel
Tonight it's the Jazz Kitchen for the start of their 10 year anniversary celebration. The line-up is The Hampton Sisters and the Slide Hampton Quintet. Tomorrow, Sunday, and Monday are just for chillin'. I'm house- and cat-sitting, and my view is of endless woods and deer in addition to a killer sound system. We don't have to change our clocks, so I won't be missing that hour or trying to find every clock in two houses to change.... *that* would be a drag. Happy Weekend everybody! EDIT: I'll miss the Pacers game so Sports Center will be mandatory. Edited April 2, 2004 by rachel
Dan Gould
A haircut Saturday morning, and Bob Weinstock interview transcribing the rest of the weekend, until 8 pm when Pedro takes the mound against the O's!!
Jim Alfredson
Today I put the first layer of mud on my drywall in the bathroom. Tomorrow some light sanding and the second coat. I will also probably continue striping the trim for the door and window of the bathroom tomorrow, as well as pricing out the tile for the walls. Sunday, more sanding and the final coat of mud for the drywall and then off to Muskegon to play at Dockers!
catesta
Just going to take it easy tonight. Not much planned for most of Saturday, until around 7:30 that is. BIG plans for Saturday night. Going to see Junior Mance, Jeff Hamilton, Ricky Woodard, John Clayton, Guy Barker, Bill Waltrous, and a mess of others. This should to be a good time, plenty of great music and cocktails. I will be spending the night at the resort hosting the jam session. Sunday, sleep in a bit, do the normal routine, and then off to a buds house for an evening cook out and veiwing of the Sopranos. chris olivarez
I'm thinking about making the quick trip down to Mexico tomorrow, with friend. It's only about an hour's drive from where I live. I want to purchase some Mexican vanilla for my Mom. Maybe have a beer on the other side of the border. I don't know why... but Mexican beer seems to taste better oh-so-much-better when drinking it in Mexico. It's odd to be there, in Mexico, just to the other side of the border (Nogales, Arizona is the city, the birthplace of Mingus), then look back at the USA from the Mexican side... and see the McDonald's, Burger King, and Safeway signs sticking up in the air... while, on the Mexican side, you're surrounded by filth, poverty, odd scents, and kids begging for money in the streets. Makes you appreciate the good ol' USA when you're appreciation is running in doubtful mode. Of course, we are having rain today. Which is not the norm for this area. I used to live forty minutes from Mexico-Holy culture shock!!!

Dan Gould
BIG plans for Saturday night. Going to see Junior Mance, Jeff Hamilton, Ricky Woodard, John Clayton, Guy Barker, Bill Waltrous, and a mess of others. I am seriously jealous, Chris. Mance, Woodard, Hamilton alone would be worth whatever the price of admission is.

jamn
What I am doing in Muskegon, Michigan this weekend. Saturday afternoon, my father's 80th birthday party. Very cool. Everyone in 4 generations of my large family will be home...... Saturday evening, The Truth in Jazz Orchestra [can't get the hyperlink to work] www.tijo.org (my band) will take off on our maiden voyage at 7:00 PM in the beautiful and historic Frauenthal Center Auditorium www.frauenthal.info/nowplaying.htm in downtown Muskegon fronted by our legendary west Michigan drummer Tim Froncek. We are playing for a special event called MS JAMS www.mchp.org/msjams/html/media.html a fundraiser/MS awareness concert. Our guest soloist is the Force of Nature himself, Derico D. Watson. www.dericowatson.com The same evening after the MS JAMS concert, Square One www.thekrband.com an outstanding local band will be playing from 9:30 PM to 1:30 AM at Pints and Quarts Pub and Grill in Roosevelt Park. This is a very eclectic and entertaining group that I would describe as a progressive acoustic rock band. They do a great mix of originals and covers that audiences always love. S1 is playing as I write this at the Black Rose Irish Pub in Grand Rapids. On Sunday, April 4, Organissimo is playing at Dockers Waterfront Cafe in Harbortowne from 6:00 - 10:00 PM. I am very thankful to Dockers for bringing them to Muskegon several times over the past couple months. It's gonna be a great weekend. chris olivarez
I'm going to La Jara,Colorado to do play by play for two baseball games. Ernie Banks used to say "It's a beautiful day let's play two". If Banks was in La Jara he would say "forget it lets go home". A lousy weather forecast and my worst working conditions for baseball will make for a long day. Oh well! it's part of the job. Beyond that no special plans. wesbed
I'm driving a friend to the Phoenix airport (from Tucson) on Friday night. It's a two hour drive. We will be dining at the In-N-Out burger on the way. The plane departs from Phoenix, headed for Chicago, at midnight (Phoenix time). Then, I will be returning home to enjoy the weekend, with no plans.
sheldonm
I'll be hanging out around the house this Saturday and celebrating Easter and my Mother's 77th B-Day on Sunday. I actually had plans to go see Joey DeFrancesco on Sunday but I don't think my Mom would understand (and I'm sure she wouldn't want to go see him). I'll be headin' to the Jazz Kitchen Friday night for their 10th Anniversary Party and I'm sure I'll go out to dinner Saturday evening (Italian), so a laid-back weekend for sure. Alexander
My daughter is going to be sleeping over at my mom's house tonight, so my wife and I will be going out to dinner and a movie (I can't tell you the last time we had a real "date"). Tomorrow (Saturday), I'll be working from 9 to 5. My daughter will be dropped off in the evening, and we will have an early Easter dinner with my mom and her boyfriend. Sunday we'll have brunch with the In-Laws. My daughter will receive much Easter candy, and I will do homework (at some point).
catesta
Have no other plans for tonight besides having an ice cold Moretti or two along side a nice plate of Tortellini with a lady friend. B) Saturday after doing some work around the house, listening to some new cds, I'm going to an outdoor classis car show, and then off to a friends house for yet another cookout. On Easter Sunday having lunch with my parents, two of my sisters, and assorted nephews and nieces. I'm bringing the cannoli.

Peter Johnson
My wife has a shitty call schedule this weekend (again). She's working today (Friday) through Saturday mid-morning, then all day Sunday. So: Fortunately, my firm has good friday off. So this afternoon I'll go for a long run and then listen to & comment on BFT 9. Tonight, drinks & dinner with neighborhood friends; Tomorrow morning, I'm going to take a rock-climbing lesson at an indoor rock climbing place (if the weather's bad). Tomorrow night: dinner with my wife if she's awake from above-mentioned call schedule. Sunday morning: if it's not raining, I'm gonna dust off my motorcycle and go for my first ride in too many months. Got to reinvigorate my skills before a rally in Kentucky I want to attend in May! In between: music, a little work, a little org.org.
