Rabshakeh Posted August 23, 2022 Report Posted August 23, 2022 It sounds like it has been confirmed now. https://mobile.twitter.com/intlanthem/status/1562196045160845312?ref_src=twsrc%5Egoogle%7Ctwcamp%5Eserp%7Ctwgr%5Etweet RIP. Very sad news given how young Branch was. One of my favourite artists in the International Anthem catalogue. Quote
Hoppy T. Frog Posted August 23, 2022 Report Posted August 23, 2022 Just awful. Someone who was worth watching. Quote
LWayne Posted August 23, 2022 Report Posted August 23, 2022 Great talent. Died way too young. May she rest in peace. LWayne Quote
Larry Kart Posted August 23, 2022 Report Posted August 23, 2022 Oh no. Lovely musician, lovely person. Quote
Chuck Nessa Posted August 24, 2022 Report Posted August 24, 2022 First met her when she was working the counter at the Jazz Record Mart, along with Josh Berman and some others. Those were the days. Quote
ghost of miles Posted August 24, 2022 Report Posted August 24, 2022 Way, way too soon. Heartbreaking. Quote
clifford_thornton Posted August 24, 2022 Report Posted August 24, 2022 Hell of a player and a sweet, hilarious person. She will be greatly missed by so many. Quote
mjazzg Posted August 24, 2022 Report Posted August 24, 2022 (edited) My God, this is so tragic. I'm completely shocked, what horrible, horrible news. Anteloper were due at Oto next week. Her personality shone through even on Twitter ffs. Such brightness, dimmed 'Fly Or Die' at Oto was one of the great evenings. I followed her music since a Tim Daisy album and have rated everything she has recorded. Edited August 24, 2022 by mjazzg Quote

JSngry Posted August 24, 2022 Report Posted August 24, 2022 RIP, thanks for getting it done with the time you had. Cause of death? Quote
ghost of miles Posted August 24, 2022 Report Posted August 24, 2022 Quote from her website: "All the music that ever was and ever will be is here now. It exists in a cloud just above our heads and when we play, we pluck it out of the ether for a lil while before sending it back up.” Quote

Just yesterday added her Fly or die and she was definitely someone to watch for, for me. When I saw this I thought it can't be the same person. She was young. Then I decided let's see. So what Ghost said. Quote

I remember going to an event in NY in 2006/7(?) at the Knitting Factory (I think) for one of his significant birthdays. Matthew Shipp played. I wish I remembered who else was on the set. I have tried looking a number of times but found nothing. Edited August 24, 2022 by Rabshakeh Quote
CJ Shearn Posted August 25, 2022 Report Posted August 25, 2022 I gotta check out her music. 39 is too young! Just two years younger than I. I know several people who knew her. Very sad passing. Quote
Rooster_Ties Posted August 25, 2022 Report Posted August 25, 2022 Nice remembrance in today’s WashPo… https://www.washingtonpost.com/music/2022/08/24/jaimie-branch-appreciation/ Quote
Justin V Posted August 26, 2022 Report Posted August 26, 2022 I was out of state in 2019 when she played a gig (or 2?) in the area and then the pandemic scuttled a planned gig in March 2020. The stars thus never aligned for me to see her. It's heartbreaking for such a well-regarded, young musician to pass away. RIP. Quote
