HutchFan
He's quite a character. I gotta say: He makes me feel better about the scale of my musical obsessions. Compared to that guy, I'm just a dabbler.
Dub Modal
Always enjoy reading about Bussard and/or listening to those tunes…and watching him along with it. The enthusiasm gets me every time.
Eric
Great story, thanks Chuck. Man, I get it. The filing "system" at once blows me a away but then again it doesn't. Of course that seems to be missing the point by a wide margin. I would love to spend an afternoon in that basement, listening to whatever he wants to play. Dub Modal
Here’s at least one of the documentaries on Bussard mentioned in that article: and about 1.5 hours of some of his records:

Dub Modal
It’s never been a focus of mine unfortunately. Thankfully there’s resources out there to remedy that.
kh1958
For early blues, the recent annual issuances on Blues Image have really fine sound. Better than Yazoo. https://bluesimages.com/html/product_html/order_cds_new.html

Blues Images There's a thread somewhere on this board about Blues Images. I'd say—if you're just getting into this branch of music ... START WITH BLUES IMAGES. Yazoo is great, but Blues Images is alive right now and could use support. Oops. Back to Bussard. Also great.
nighthawk68
I had the pleasure to hang out in Joe's basement on a couple of occasions and listen to records for hours. It's like entering another world going down those steps. He's quite a character. https://sundayblues.org/wp-content/uploads/2022/06/DSC2955.jpg https://sundayblues.org/wp-content/uploads/2022/06/DSC2937.jpg https://sundayblues.org/wp-content/uploads/2022/06/IMG_0578.jpg

Big Beat Steve
Time to listen to his "Down In the Basement" compilation again now, I guess. With sort of fresh ears. BTW, did anyone ever attempt a comparison of the collections of Joe Bussard and John Tefteller (in those areas where their periods of interest match)?
