Duke Jordan Les Liaisons Dangereuses, Best Available Digital Version

[Teasing the Korean]

What is the best available digital version of Duke Jordan's Les Liaisons Dangereuses?  It looks like there are several grey market versions sourced from vinyl.  Looking either for CDs or CD-quality downloads from places like Qobuz.

A beautiful digital version is included as CD #2 in the 30-CD set of "The Charlie Parker Records" label. This box set was issued by Membran many years ago.

From where did Membran get it, though? Did they do their own work on that set?

It's overall a really interesting set, some fascinating obscuraties.  Haven't listened to it in a few years, but my memory was that ths sound was certainly adequate.  I doubt there will be any great sounding sources fir the titles on that label.

It was a good set. I just wonder where Membrane got their source material. They're not an outfit I associate with doing their own work, especially not on this scale. But who knows?

I'm sure they didn't.  Membran feels exceedingly shady overall, and the sound isn't all that good, but is adequate.  Here's a useful overview:

There was some discussion on this when Solid in Japan released a batch of titles from the Charlie Parker Records-catalogue in 2019. The common view in that brief thread was that there was not much to gain from any fancy remastering since the quality of the original recording was so poor to start with. However, @jazzbo posted that he knew better sounding versions of this than were included on the individual disks of the Membran-set, so maybe he can be of help.

Since I don't have the set and was only interested in a few titles anyway, I picked up the Solid-edition (CDSOL-46516). To my ears it's pretty decent in this 'latest remastering' (according to the productinfo provided by CDJapan), but unfortunately I have nothing to compare it with.

Maybe you missed this release? It's not listed on Discogs, but stll available. CDJapan has it on backorder.
