Teasing the Korean Posted December 11, 2021 Report Posted December 11, 2021 And if so, what scale? I would peg him for an HO guy. Quote
Rabshakeh Posted December 12, 2021 Report Posted December 12, 2021 What is it that led to this bizarre question? Also, what do you mean by layout? A model trainset? Brio or adult? Or just a table of trainlines? Quote
Teasing the Korean Posted February 21, 2022 Author Report Posted February 21, 2022 Bump. Does Chuck Nessa Have a Train Layout in His Basement? And if so, what scale? Quote

Brad Posted February 21, 2022 Report Posted February 21, 2022 If it’s O Scale, he must have a big basement. Quote
JSngry Posted February 21, 2022 Report Posted February 21, 2022 Why it always gotta be the basement? Quote
Chuck Nessa Posted February 21, 2022 Report Posted February 21, 2022 My father was an O Scale collector. My grandkids have a small Lionel layout and I have a "shitload" (professional term) of boxes stacked in the basement waiting to be sold. How did this query occur to you Quote

That's just the way it goes. Quote

danasgoodstuff Posted February 21, 2022 Report Posted February 21, 2022 I have a train layout in my mind, Canadian Rockies, corkscrew tunnel, it's beautiful. And the Lackawanna Phoebe Snow. And all the lovely rail roads. Quote
Ken Dryden Posted February 21, 2022 Report Posted February 21, 2022 My cousin’s husband is a train enthusiast and he bought a duplex a few miles from their Tampa home to use the back half for his train set. It was very elaborate when we saw it a decade or more ago and he has since expanded the back apartment so he could expand his layout. I sent him a CDR that I compiled with all sorts of train-themed songs and arrangements. Several Duke Ellington tracks, Meade Lux Lewis, Villa-Lobos and even ELP, among others. Quote

This music reminds me of well-dressed passengers drinking old fashioneds in the observation car! I'll post some examples! Quote
Brad Posted February 22, 2022 Report Posted February 22, 2022 (edited) Years ago I had a small O Scale layout, that a friend and I built. A lot of fun but takes up a lot of room. Had many Lionel and MTH locos. Great stuff. Went to a few train shows. A lot of fun. Edited February 22, 2022 by Brad Quote

You may have better luck selling your collection as individual pieces rather than in bulk. Also, consider lower starting bids to generate interest. We are model railroaders first; we can't also be expected to understand business. And our mistakes are not failures if we learn from them. I have full faith that you will turn this around! 14 hours ago, Ken Dryden said: I sent him a CDR that I compiled with all sorts of train-themed songs and arrangements. Teasing the Korean Posted April 30, 2022 Author Report Posted April 30, 2022 So, no joke, I dreamt that Chuck had an N-gauge layout in the basement on a 4' x 8' table. He had a bunch of HO stuff boxed up. Chuck said he switched to N-gauge because you could get so much more in a 4' x 8' space. Quote
Rabshakeh Posted April 30, 2022 Report Posted April 30, 2022 I still do not understand this bit. Quote

I like jazz and model trains, so inevitably, the two may collide in dreams every now and then, although the image of colliding trains is one I prefer to avoid.
