sjarrell
Well, whatever it is it shipped to me, priority mail, today. I'll know Wednesday. Then I'll decide whether or not to keep it. Stay tuned...
wesbed
It says you save $116, but then it also says it's only one disc. I'm tempted to try it, though. I wish I had the nerve to order this one. Is this the Mosaic with the wrong price tag? Damn, damn, damn. The notes, near the very bottom, say 7 CDs. DrJ
Well hell, I took the risk and ordered. It's only 20 bucks (with shipping) and if it's just a single disc compilation of Jazztet stuff or something else relatively bogus, which it probably is (serve me right for trying to take advantage of a mispricing) it'll tide me over until I can afford the box from Mosaic (and will become road trip fodder for the car after that). wesbed
If you check the CD Universe page, the Mosaic Selects show the correct price, are listed as one disk, but the label is 'Mosaic Select.' The oddly-priced Verve Jazztet lists a label of 'Umvd/Grp.' I did a search on the CD Universe site and found no listing, by doing a label search, for Mosaic. If I recall correctly... GRP/Impulse/Verve are the same company? Edited November 23, 2004 by wesbed
DrJ
Yeah, it's probably NOT the Mosaic, but I'm feeling lucky! If it was even $50 probably not worth the risk, but for the cost of a list price CD, worth a chance to me. As long as it's Jazztet in some way shape or form, it's cool. Also: isn't this one of those Mosaics that Universal is doing some production on as well (maybe for the European market primarily)? So I'm thinking if this IS the Jazztet box, it's that version. sjarrell
It's listed at the Verve website with an off-day release date (9/20, Monday), all by its lonesome between 9/14 and 9/21. No links, no info...
undergroundagent
I took the risk, but emailed them to cancel the order if it wasn't the Mosaic. I actually think this is the set, but the price was suppose to be the amount taken off whereas the $16.97 was suppose to be discount from the suggested retail. Either way, that would be tremendous if it was the Mosaic.
wesbed
It seems too wierd. However, I don't know what else it would be if not 'the' Mosaic. I wonder if CD Universe will ship the product if it's a mis-print? Do the people at CD Universe know or care? You place your order, the computer does its thing, a person at the warehouse mails the package... and all is well. I've been to retail stores where a price is obviously mis-marked. One of the retail workers will apologize for the incorrect price but will not honor the incorrect price (unless the price is wrong by only a couple of dollars). ghost of miles
So what does that discount work out to? 88% off? I already have it, but best of luck to those who pulled the trigger... that is gonna be the buy of a lifetime!
sjarrell
I wonder if CD Universe will ship the product if it's a mis-print? As I said, I got my shipping notification today. It, whatever it is, went out priority mail today. I even got a shipping upgrade.
wesbed
I just checked the CD Universe site. It appears the Jazztet set is 'backordered.' I expect they won't be selling any more at the low-advertised price once they make the new order.
DrJ
Ah well, we'll see if my order ends up on "eternal backorder" or if they actually ship it (was not listed as "backordered" when I placed it), AND if they do, whether it's the Mosaic...only the shadow knows... Bluerein
Just ordered 5 copies (the order page said "shipping within 1-2 days" and not backordered). Let's see. I've checked the catalog number with the EU set and it does match so this is good sign it's really the Mosaic set. pryan
I had a similar scenario with the PLUGGED NICKEL set. The set was on CDNOW for like 12 bucks; I ordered, but they sent me an e-mail saying that it was a typo. They are covered legally if typos like that occur and they catch them before mailing the product out. Still, that would be sweet if you guys score on that Jazztet Mosaic. king ubu
Strange is that it's on backorder, but once you put it in your cart, it's again shipping in 1 to 2 days... I didn't go for it, by the way.
Brad
If it's a one cd thing, ins't it probably just a "best of" cd? I'm sure the whole set is not $16. At any rate I got my Mosaic a while ago so the money is already gone.
undergroundagent
This is a one cd set. I just received an email from CD Universe.
wesbed
This is a one cd set. I just received an email from CD Universe. Any more detail from the email? This web page image does show, at the bottom in the notes, this being a 7 CD set. CD Universe has created a bizarre page to advertise a single CD. I mean, it lists at $132? undergroundagent
No other information other than they're taking it down because it was the wrong price and the disc was unavailable. Sounds fishy, but it was too good to be true anyways.
sjarrell
This is a one cd set. I just received an email from CD Universe. Well they've been laboring under the notion that it's a single disc all along. Doesn't mean they're right! My fingers is still crossed... My fingers is still crossed... same here as I too took the plunge< if it's not the complete Verve Jazztet records then I can always return it at their expense. Mind you amazon.de had those ultra cheap Mosaic Shorter/Morgan Vee Jay sets which turned out to be some ambient/noise disc .
