ghost of miles
Bob Blumenthal just posted this news to a jazz listserv, via a NY Times notice. Glad that so many of McNeill’s albums got reissued in recent years before his passing: Lloyd McNeill R.I.P.
mjazzg
Oh no, that is sad. I treasure his music, which I only discovered with the initial reissues from SOTU, and wish I knew more about his other artistic endeavours. The reissue programme was a labour of love I think for SOTU and I hope it successfully spread the word so many more appreciate his work. mikeweil
R.I.P. Such sad news. His melodies haunted me after first hearing Asha on AFN Europe. My discography now needs a update in the biographical part ...... https://jazzdiscography.com/lloyd-mcneill-discography/ His own website is really worth a visit and includes an amazing survey of his work. http://lmcneill1.weebly.com
Rabshakeh
Oh no. Some of my favourite flute records and more. RIP.
Pim
R.I.p. Just recently discovered him. Not a big flute fan but this guy was definitely great. I love his Washington Suite and there’s more on my to listen list!

six string
Very sad indeed. One of the great jazz flautists. His music was very special to me.
