Pim Posted October 31, 2021 Report Posted October 31, 2021 I never liked his music but his debut seems interesting for it's personnel: practically the Center of the World group with Bobby Few, Muhammad Ali and Frank Wright. First reissue: https://www.musiconvinyl.com/catalog/hans-dulfer/el-saxofon#.YX6Qri9Y790 https://www.discogs.com/release/20784931-Hans-Dulfer-El-Saxofón Quote
mjazzg Posted October 31, 2021 Report Posted October 31, 2021 I didn't know this was up for reissue, thanks for posting Pim. I only know it by reputation. @clifford_thorntonis your man for more knowledge I suspect Quote

First side is Dulfer, Jan Jacobs, and percussion/vocals. It's actually Dulfer's fourth LP as a leader. Quote

clifford_thornton Posted October 31, 2021 Report Posted October 31, 2021 (edited) no biggie. I really like Dulfer's music from that period a lot! I guess you could even say it's the fifth as he co-led Soulbrass Inc. with Herbert Noord, and that LP was released on Stichting Jazz Werkgroep prior to El Saxofon. Late Posted October 31, 2021 Report Posted October 31, 2021 Too bad there doesn't appear to be a CD issue to go along with the upcoming vinyl. But at least the vinyl's green! Quote
felser Posted October 31, 2021 Report Posted October 31, 2021 Father of Candy Dulfer, but we won't hold that against him. I've never heard of him until this thread. The time (1971) and personnel are intriguing. Quote

clifford_thornton Posted November 1, 2021 Report Posted November 1, 2021 Dulfer's third album as a leader was named after her: https://www.discogs.com/release/1344214-Hans-Dulfer-And-Ritmo-Natural-Candy-Clouds looks like that one has been reissued recently as well. It's superb. Quote

It's superb. Candy Clouds is so great. Still haven’t picked up the MoV issue, but I should sooner or later. Not much for the hardcore jazz realm necessarily, but a great listen. I’m not familiar with this one, I’ll check it out. Certainly intriguing. Quote
clifford_thornton Posted November 2, 2021 Report Posted November 2, 2021 yeah, Candy Clouds and its companion album The Morning After the Third are both wonderful. I imagine the smoke was thick at both sessions! Quote
mjazzg Posted November 2, 2021 Report Posted November 2, 2021 Yeah, well the flares were certainly wide Quote
