Sad news indeed; he'd been unwell for a while I think. Was able to see him live a number of times, including with the Revolt of the Negro Lawn Jockeys band. By the way, that album is slated to be reissued as an LP set fairly soon. RIP.

I never listened to nearly as much of his music as I suspect I should have.

'Revolt...' was highly rated in the Penguin Guide I think but impossible to find by the time I realised i should do. Maybe the reissue will allow me to remedy that.

Really? Have you got more information? I will definitely pick that up. The cd version is very hard to find these days. It’s one of those records I feel a little bit ashamed about for not owning it.
