Ha, well I figured if "beatboxin' for Lou Rawls" was a way of dissing ya mama, I didn't need to hear him.

Bear Family should have treated Lou Rawls like they treated Nat King Cole with their two big box sets of his Capitol recordigs. I can understand why Michael Cuscuna had mixed feelings about the early singles and so on, but still ..... he would have deserved it.

If you've never heard no other Lou Rawls tracks, you surely must have heard this one at some point:

And if you know "Bring It On Home" by Sam Cooke, Lou Rawls sings the lower harmony.

I surf the net on my PC, in silence, as it has no speakers. If I want to hear something, I have to dig out headphones, or switch to my phone and that's usually too hard and I get distracted. Anyway, to get people off my case, I listened to the above, and you are right, I evidently have heard some Lou Rawls in my lifetime.

Whether I will hear any more is anyone's guess.

As Dan mentioned above, this is from The !!!! Beat, a show curated and hosted by Nashville producer, Bill "Hoss" Allen. The show was taped at a Dallas TV station rather than in Nashville because of the availability of color video facilities.

In this segment, the band members are as follows: Fathead & Harvey Thompson, tenor; Skippy Brooks, piano; Johnny Jones, guitar; Billy Cox, bass; Freeman Brown, drums.
