MPS reissues

I’ve picked up a few of these titles in previous incarnations—nice to see a broad slate of titles getting reissued (and in CD format as well as vinyl, praise Jesus):

I hope that future rounds will concentrate more on titles that have not already seen CD reissue in the past.   Especially long for the two below.

Yes, in addition to the Third Wave, we need many others such as the two Nelson Riddle albums, Horst Jankowski's For Nightpeople Only, "Roland Kovacs' Trip to the Mars, and that France Boland album with the track that sounds like Les Baxter's Que Mango album.

There was an Albert Mangelsdorff 5CD box (Vol 1, of a 2 maybe 3 volume set of Mangelsdorff titles) that included Zo-Ko-Ma, that I tracked down a few years ago. It’s a nice date.

Have you looked on Discogs? There was a German CD issue 10+ years ago. Liable to be pricey if it's there...

Nice people at Edel (the current owner of MPS) have made a lot of MPS albums (including the Harper and Hannibal ones) available on streaming platforms.

Yes, and I'm grateful that Edel has made much of the MPS catalog available through streaming services.  And they've offered downloads too.

But the collector in me says, "Streaming and downloads are not the same thing as tangible formats like CDs or LPs." 

I may be a dinosaur, but I still like objects that I can hold in my hands!

Spotify is radio. CDs are the records for the record player. Both have their delightful places, but they are different modalities.

In any case, I listened to that Hannibal album for the first time (thank you amazon) - it is good stuff indeed (except for the chanting track closer to the end).

The Hubbard does not seem to have the bonus track, which is apparently the same 'Muses' composition that appeared in the Dolphy Resonance set. That is annoying.

The last reissue of the Hubbard sounds HORRIBLE, compressed, loud, squashed. That is keeping me away from pre-ordering any of this series.

Problem fixed if they also reissue the Richard Davis album, correct?

I received a publicist email about these reissues, but no CDs so far. They will probably arrive after I buy some of them.

The bridge of Bacana is lovely! I like how the first chord in the third bar of the bridge is such a nice suprice, while still so typical of this style tje Germans excelled in during the late 60s.

As much as I love Horst Jankowski, isn't the first track stolen from KPM, though?
