Isla Eckinger RIP

I totally missed this but apparently some two months ago Swiss bassist Isla Eckinger died. His contributions to Mal Waldron’s albums like Free At Last, Spanish Bitch and Hard Talk were very, very good. The first time I heard him play I was really pleasantly surprised.

Sorry to hear this: I saw him with Horace Parlan and have the Steeplechase LP with Parlan, Eckinger and Danny Richmond.

such a great bass player. RIP

Eckinger was a very fine bass player. Need to check out some of the recordings I have with him.
