Big Wheel Posted March 22, 2004 Report Posted March 22, 2004 Tonight, March 22. As Jon Stewart might say, "whaaaa?" Quote
Big Wheel Posted March 23, 2004 Author Report Posted March 23, 2004 Up--is anyone planning to catch this? Quote
GregK Posted March 23, 2004 Report Posted March 23, 2004 I try to watch this show every night; I think it's the funniest thing on TV, and, despite it's blatant liberal bias, I actually think the news coverage is valuable. They do try to book a decent balance of liberal/conservative guests too, when they aren't booking celebrities to just come on and discuss their latest movie. Quote
RainyDay Posted March 23, 2004 Report Posted March 23, 2004 FYI the show is rerun the following day at 7 PM. I can't even imagine how this will turn out. Quote
BruceH Posted March 23, 2004 Report Posted March 23, 2004 I'll be watching and taping it. Of course, that's true most every night. For the past few years this has been about my favorite show on TV. Quote
BruceH Posted March 23, 2004 Report Posted March 23, 2004 Hey, did anyone catch Steven Colbert on Law & Order: Criminal Intent last week? He played the bad guy, and did a good job. Way to go, Steven! Now I'm waiting for Rob Cordry to show up on L&O:SVU. Quote
gdogus Posted March 23, 2004 Report Posted March 23, 2004 (edited) Well I caught Wynton on The Daily Show couch. No big deal. Stewart effused (ironically) about how cool jazz musicians are, Wynton talked about the lessons we learn from jamming: how to give other people their own space, how to listen and accept other voices, etc. Wynton got off some good lines. All pretty low-key, as you might expect. Edited March 23, 2004 by gdogus Quote
Simon Weil Posted March 23, 2004 Report Posted March 23, 2004 Wynton talked about the lessons we learn from jamming: how to give other people their own space, how to listen and accept other voices, etc. Jazz has 20 odd years of him ignoring that lesson. Simon Weil Quote
Christiern Posted March 23, 2004 Report Posted March 23, 2004 Sounds like it was well worth missing. Quote
RainyDay Posted March 24, 2004 Report Posted March 24, 2004 It seems there are an infinite number of ways to ask why jazz musicians are so cool. Stewart's question about how many people are in a quartet was amusing. Quote
BruceH Posted March 24, 2004 Report Posted March 24, 2004 Was it me, or did Wynton seem determined to not look at Stewart for the first half of the interview? Quote
TedR Posted March 24, 2004 Report Posted March 24, 2004 Jon Stewart to WM: So there is trash talking in jazz?! Quote
SGUD missile Posted March 24, 2004 Report Posted March 24, 2004 I came ... I saw .... I was bored stiff .... but not nearly as stiff as Winnie appeared .. probably wondering " who the f*** booked me on this show just flog my CD" p.s the Daily Show , Stewart and his group of loons are really my favorite source of news these days .. BERIGAN Posted March 25, 2004 Report Posted March 25, 2004 (edited) Hey, did anyone catch Steven Colbert on Law & Order: Criminal Intent last week? He played the bad guy, and did a good job. Way to go, Steven! Now I'm waiting for Rob Cordry to show up on L&O:SVU. Hey, isn't someone from the show in those Godawful GM Goodwrench ads? Man, do those suck! Yet, they keep running them!
