Brad Posted January 12, 2022 Report Posted January 12, 2022 Keep getting better Allen. So glad to hear you’re doing better. Quote
Rooster_Ties Posted January 12, 2022 Report Posted January 12, 2022 Wishing you all the strength in the world to get thru this — and from the sounds of it, you have a remarkable well of strength to draw on (I’m sure some days more than others). Hoping every day is better than the last, and onward! Quote
clifford_thornton Posted January 12, 2022 Report Posted January 12, 2022 Allen, so glad you've gotten through the bulk of this -- and that you're going beyond just taking it day by day. I will figure a way to be at one of these April gigs for sure! Quote
Bluesnik Posted January 12, 2022 Report Posted January 12, 2022 Very glad to be hearing this. About your miraculous recovery. Keep going. Quote
jazzbo Posted January 12, 2022 Report Posted January 12, 2022 (edited) From now on you are Allen "Phoenix" Lowe. Congrats and here's hoping for a continuing health. Edited January 12, 2022 by jazzbo Quote
HutchFan Posted January 12, 2022 Report Posted January 12, 2022 Best wishes to you, Allen. I hope your full return to health is just around the corner. Quote
AllenLowe Posted January 12, 2022 Report Posted January 12, 2022 thank you everyone. Back in April I really didn't think I would make it through the year, and your support is gratifying, Quote

Horrible to hear about Peplowski. I don't know anything about that disease; is the prognosis good? He's the nicest guy, and greatest clarinet/sax player around. I used to give him rides to the gigs that we did together, and felt like it was an honor to do so. One time he walked up to me and said, "I like the way you play". It took me a few hours to process that! Ken is doing pretty well, as a matter fact we’re going to record together in April. I’m not sure what the long-term thing is but he’s working hard and fighting. Quote
JSngry Posted January 12, 2022 Report Posted January 12, 2022 In the famous words of Jim Perry on Sale Of The Century before starting the Big Money round, "Ok Allen, we're all with you now!" or of Summer Bartholomew on the same show when somebody decided to bite on the Mystery Money game and she walked their case over to them, "Good luck, Allen!!!" I got an email from the Queens Library recently saying that he's doing a concert with a young winds player that they're streaming. It really surprised me- in a good way. Quote

Dan Gould Posted January 28, 2022 Author Report Posted January 28, 2022 For a moment I was wondering if this was a truly organic result or a reflection of Allen's not insubstantial FB presence but beating out Metheny and Emmet Cohen definitely says something. Congrats, Allen! Quote
mikeweil Posted January 28, 2022 Report Posted January 28, 2022 Big congrats! It comes at the right time. Quote
