chris olivarez Posted March 21, 2004 Report Posted March 21, 2004 The Atlantic box and the Village Vanguard box. Same here. Quote
king ubu Posted March 21, 2004 Report Posted March 21, 2004 Classic Quartet Atlantic Village Vanguard Live in Japan Major Works (that does maybe not qualify as a "box"?) and of course Miles/Trane not the Prestige, as I missed it in the crazy zweitausendeins sale, and have most of it on OJCCDs. ubu Quote
couw Posted March 21, 2004 Report Posted March 21, 2004 you shouldn't miss out on the Pablo live box currently still available from 2001 then. Recording quality isn't always top-notch but you get Trane stretching out a lot. Nothing essential if you have the VV, Seatle, and Japan disks IMHO, but a very nice addition. And it will give you an idea of what happened in between. I never got the Impulse 4tet box. I had a lot (most) of the stuff on single CDs already. With new material now being dug up from the family vaults, this "complete" box turns out not to be so complete after all... Quote
Soulstation1 Posted March 21, 2004 Author Report Posted March 21, 2004 i own the Prestige and Heavyweight Champ sets my sis owns the VV set ss1 Quote
sidewinder Posted March 21, 2004 Report Posted March 21, 2004 Miles/Trane on the Mosaic, Heavyweight Champion on vinyl and the VV and Impulse sets on CD. Can't get enough of it .. Quote

Guy Berger Posted March 21, 2004 Report Posted March 21, 2004 VV, Live in Japan, Live Trane: the European Tours Quote
7/4 Posted March 21, 2004 Report Posted March 21, 2004 I didn't think of Live In Japan as a box! So let's try this again: VV, LIve In Japan, The Major Works of John Coltrane. Quote
Aggie87 Posted March 21, 2004 Report Posted March 21, 2004 Impulse Quartet box Live in Japan (4 discs makes it a box to me!) Village Vanguard Complete Prestige (loved that zweitausendeins sale - and couw's booklets!) Quote
gdogus Posted March 21, 2004 Report Posted March 21, 2004 None. Zip. Zero. Nada. I don't want all of the Prestige stuff, and I'm content with my VV Master Takes disc. I have most of the Impulse albums I want as single CDs - but I would like to pick up the Atlantic box at some point. I have the obvious things as single discs, but some remastered sound would be good. Quote
Chuck Nessa Posted March 22, 2004 Report Posted March 22, 2004 I don't have the Prestige, Impulse Quartet or Pablo boxes. I do have the rest. Quote
GregK Posted March 22, 2004 Report Posted March 22, 2004 Atlantic, Village Vanguard, Impulse Quartet, Live in Europe (Pablo), and the Miles. I'd say I listen to the Village Vanguard and the Live in Europe ones the most. Thought about getting the compilation box titled Legacy if I see it for a good price Quote
JohnJ Posted March 22, 2004 Report Posted March 22, 2004 Prestige Atlantic Columbia Miles/Trane VV Impulse Quartet Love them all. Quote
