AfricaBrass Posted April 14, 2004 Report Posted April 14, 2004 Does anyone remember Glass Joe from Punchout! fame? I used to beat the hell out of that guy! Trivia: opponents from Punchout! Glass Joe Piston Hurricane Bald Bull Kid Quick Pizza Pasta Mr Sandman (champion) Sure do! He was fun to knock out. My favorite was the guy with the turban. When the little jewel would flash a certain way, you could knock him out. Quote
scottb Posted April 14, 2004 Report Posted April 14, 2004 (edited) I think that turban guy was on the home version for Nintendo. I was champion of the standup arcade game. Edited April 14, 2004 by scottb Quote

Jerry Posted May 2, 2004 Report Posted May 2, 2004 A friend asked me a few years ago to take his guitar back to the luthier who made it for repair, guy named Steven Andersen in Seattle. Small shop, wonderful smells of wood. He let me try a couple of his archtops and I was immediately hooked. Unfortunately the price is way out of my league at the moment so I'm hangin on to my 1970 Martin D-18 and saving up. http://www.andersenguitars.com/ Quote
scottb Posted May 17, 2004 Report Posted May 17, 2004 OK, a guitar shop in town had a couple of the Ibanez Artcore guitars in stock so I was able to play one for a little while. (Actually while I was there a guy who was obviously new to electrics and possibly to guitar in general, bought one.) My opinion is that it's not a great guitar but still a good buy at $325. The finish is nice and the overall look is good. Hardware etc seem to not be junk. It is similar in size to the Epiphone Joe pass Model which is a bit smaller than most archtops. It played OK and I'm not sure what a good set up job could do for it. There were no big flaws like buzzes or anything but it was just OK for me, Dog. Bottom line, if I were in the market for an archtop to tinker around with or on a tight budget, I would buy one but I wouldn't expect it to perform like a top of the line Gibson. Quote
