duaneiac Posted March 21, 2021 Report Posted March 21, 2021 Bassist Dean Reilly, long a staple of the SF jazz world, passed away earlier this month. Among other notable achievements, he was a founding member of the Vince Guaraldi Trio when that group was the house band at the hungry i in SF in the 1950's. He was also the bassist for the Kingston Trio for much of the 1960's until the original lineup of that group broke up in '67. As the following article from the San Francisco Chronicle mentions, he performed with Charlie Parker, Duke Ellington, Bill Evans, Chet Baker, Thelonious Monk, Benny Goodman, Bing Crosby, Ella Fitzgerald, Art Farmer, Ornette Coleman, Coleman Hawkins, Hank Jones, George Shearing, Frank Sinatra, Glen Campbell, Mel Torme, Johnny Mathis, B.B.
