Although it was issued on LP, it would be cool to get the Shandar album in correct ORTF concert order, maybe as a CD or digital release. It's one of Sunny's best. I'm sure there are other Acoustical Swing Unit live gigs that exist/were recorded.

How about the ENTIRE Muse Catalog!

I don't understand how all of that great music can remain OOP for so long. Especially with the rise of remastered classic albums on vinyl.

Wasn't some of it tied up with legal issues for a while? I thought I read that Joe Fields & Don Schlitten couldn't agree on a separation agreement. Something about Fields' Cobblestone stuff that was released on Muse maybe?

I recorded the music from The Classic Concert Live, featuring Mel Torme, George Shearing and Gerry Mulligan, when it aired on NPR’s Jazz Alive! When I got the liner note assignment out of the blue years later, I was excited, since I had listened to the concert many times over the years. Unfortunately, Concord Jazz chose to omit some great music, including all three Mulligan big band instrumentals, especially a killer version of “K4 Pacific.” There was also a fine piano-bass duet of Sam Jones’ “One For Amos.” I understand why they likely omitted the Willard Robison medley, due to the goofy ending to it by Torme. I posted the unissued songs on archive.org long ago and it is unlikely that this music will ever be officially released.

I also have two or three songs from the live Kenny Barron &. John Hicks concert issued by Candid that were not released, but aired on NPR.

I wonder if the Mulligan big band cuts were omitted because they were paying the musicians recording fees and that became prohibitive with the big band.

Sounds probable. I can't think of any other reason that stuff is getting moldy in a vault somewhere.

Still hoping for Brubeck "Compadres" and "Last Time We Saw Paris" on CD. Released on LPs but never on Columbia or Sony CDs.

and those original Muse LPs have gotten quite expensive in recent years, too. Carpe and diem if you see them.

They have?? Man... not that long ago, they were all mostly under $10. I'm talking less than 5 years ago.

A large number of them are well north of that now. The Roy Brooks is a few hundred bucks, and a bunch of others are around $100.

Brubeck had a problem with Paul Desmond during the Paris session and embargoed a CD release. Have no idea why Compadres was not reissued as a CD.

Muse CDs seem to be reasonably priced. Vinyl can be much more (Median Discogs $): Clifford Jordan "Night of the Mark VII" $100, Woody Shaw "Moontrane" $96, Joe Chambers "Double Exposure" (w/Larry Young) $50. Quite a few others in my collection, less than $25.

Well it depends a little on what title you're looking for. Some of their classic records that BFrank mentioned are getting pretty expensive and rare where other excellent outings are still very affordable like for example Woody Shaw's Berliner Jazztage's live session.

I think that was the tour where Desmond stayed out drinking late with Herb Geller, overslept and he missed the train to the next gig. That's the one that was issued as a trio LP,  and reissued the next year on CD by Brubeck Editions.

I would think that the Brubeck family would have recordings worthy of release and hopefully they will issue more in the near future.

There's no telling what Columbia did with the session with Bill Smith (titled Witches' Brew) that consisted of Smith's compositions. I guess it is buried in the vaults.
