Chad & Jeremy were a more interesting group than obvious on the surface.  Some of the Columbia material on "Of Cabbages and Kings" and "The Ark",  done after their hitmaking days were over, was pretty adventurous.  Interestingly, they stiffed in England, were only successful in the USA.  The World Artists hits are lovely.  Their first for Coumbia,  "Before and After" is surprisingly sophisticated, couldn't have been easy to sing.  In style and quality, seems more like a Bacharach/David song, but was actually written by Van McCoy, and is a long way (up) from "The Hustle".  McCoy did a lot of good work in the 60's.

I liked them as well.

I read that they were unpopular in England because they were both rich kids.

I bought the 45 of Willow Weep for Me, but returned it because of what sounded to me like a defective decrease in volume midway through.  I eventually bought their Capitol Best of album.

I have two of their World Artists 45s: A Summer Song and Donna, Donna.  These songs were big in summer camp, because it was the folk boom and they were easy to sing and strum.  RIP.

I wish I could remember who was them and who was Peter & Gordon...I do agree with Felser tht their later work was worthy of interest.

so what did Peter & Gordon do again? Lady Godiva? I don't know.

Well, Peter Asher struck gold, of course. But not until in the 70s, and at this point, who cares.

But i will try to find time in 2021 to revisit that Cabbages & Kings thing. I remember being happily engaged the last time i listened to it, whenever that was.
