mikeweil Posted November 8, 2020 Report Posted November 8, 2020 R.I.P. His playing was so clear and structured that I transcribed some of his solos for my conga students to show them how to build a solo. My personal favourite are his exchanges with Kenny Clarke on Kenny Burrell's first Blue Note LP. Gracias, Maestro! Quote
Hardbopjazz Posted November 8, 2020 Report Posted November 8, 2020 RIP, Candido. I'm happy to have seen you live many times. Quote
Justin V Posted November 8, 2020 Report Posted November 8, 2020 He was on my first jazz album, Dizzy's Gillespiana (paired with The Carnegie Hall Concert). I never had the pleasure of seeing him perform, but he is always a welcome presence on record. Thank you for the music, Mr. Camero, and rest in peace. Quote

Gheorghe Posted November 9, 2020 Report Posted November 9, 2020 he was one of my favourites among percussionists. The first solo I heard on the track "Broadway" on the Parker LP "Summit Meeting at Birdland". He also was in a Dizzy´s Dreamband from the early 80´s ….. Quote
