BERIGAN Posted March 19, 2004 Report Posted March 19, 2004 Man, I feel old. R.I.P. http://www.mtv.com/news/articles/1485838/2...?headlines=true Quote
Big Al Posted March 19, 2004 Report Posted March 19, 2004 He was my favorite of that first crop of VJs. He seemed to be so much more in touch with the music and the musicians. Plus, the man had SOUL! Thanks for the memories, J.J. RIP Quote
JSngry Posted March 19, 2004 Report Posted March 19, 2004 So, like he was already almost 40 when MTV started up? Wow... Quote
RDK Posted March 19, 2004 Report Posted March 19, 2004 Kinda my first reponse too, Jim. Makes my feel *old.* I still miss those first few VJs that they had - MTV was truly groundbreaking back then. And played music whether we liked it or not. Quote
Tjazz Posted March 19, 2004 Report Posted March 19, 2004 Who's the 'old' guy on MTV or VH1 now? Quote
Dan Gould Posted March 19, 2004 Report Posted March 19, 2004 So, like he was already almost 40 when MTV started up? Wow... Didn't he look about 40? And I don't know if you all knew, but the other girl, Nina Blackwell, did some "adult" modeling. I agree with Big Al, he was the best of the "ground-breaking" crop of VJs. Quote

The cool thing about the first VJs was that they were actually DJs. Quote
Jazzdog Posted March 20, 2004 Report Posted March 20, 2004 Damn, I had no idea he was the voice in the movie Car Wash. That and the early days of MTV bring back great memories!! Quote

Dan, her name is Nina Blackwood, and she was just topless, and bottomless...at least that is what people have told me...... Quote
Soulstation1 Posted March 20, 2004 Report Posted March 20, 2004 are you talking about kurt loder as the older guy at mtv? Quote
JSngry Posted March 20, 2004 Report Posted March 20, 2004 So, like he was already almost 40 when MTV started up? Wow... Didn't he look about 40? Yeah, I thought back then that something was weird about a seemingly middle-aged brother pimping white haircut bands, but in this business... Quote
Tjazz Posted March 20, 2004 Report Posted March 20, 2004 are you talking about kurt loder as the older guy at mtv? Yeah, I'm surprised he doesn't work behind the scene for MTV or VH1. He just seems alittle low key, now. Quote
Tjazz Posted March 20, 2004 Report Posted March 20, 2004 (edited) I don't remember getting cable in those days. Can somebody name everybody for me. (Kurt is not in that picture is he?) Edited March 20, 2004 by Tjazz Quote
BERIGAN Posted March 20, 2004 Author Report Posted March 20, 2004 No Kurt, but I believe he is as old as JJ was...I remembered all of the names but Alan Hunter, so in a search, I found this 3 year old story on where they are "now" http://www.abcnews.go.com/sections/GMA/Goo...TV_deejays.html Quote
ghost of miles Posted March 20, 2004 Report Posted March 20, 2004 Yeah, memory lane here, that's for sure--hadn't thought about that crew in ages. The VJ I liked came a bit later--"Dave," the sarcastic, shadowy English persona on 120 Minutes. (Not Kevin, whose bright-eyed, goofy/giddy manner used to bug the crap out of me.) Quote
RainyDay Posted March 20, 2004 Report Posted March 20, 2004 MTV was fun back when it was brand spanking new and the only videos they played were mostly from Britain. I had no idea Jackson was already middle-aged when he was a vee jay but then I never really thought about his age at all. I feel old too. Heck, I am old. Quote

(three years ago) ? Quote
