As may Messrs Hockney and Bennett and Barbara Hepworth but we'll forgive such hyperbole given the sad circumstances Quote
jazztrain Posted September 10, 2020 Report Posted September 10, 2020 Oh, no! Time to find the Avengers theme... Quote

Brought up near Pudsey, no less. Edited September 10, 2020 by sidewinder Quote
mjzee Posted September 10, 2020 Report Posted September 10, 2020 The epitome of British class and style. I had a major crush on her when I was younger, but then, who didn't? RIP. Quote
gmonahan Posted September 10, 2020 Report Posted September 10, 2020 Ah, so many adolescent fantasies in my youth! Saw her live in London years ago with Rex Harrison in "Heartbreak House." A marvelous talent who will be much missed! gregmo Quote
Milestones Posted September 10, 2020 Report Posted September 10, 2020 When I was young I thought she was sexy in The Avengers--a most common feeling. I did not see her in a lot of stuff otherwise--the so-so Bond picture (she was the best thing about it) and an appearance on TV in King Lear (with Olivier, no less). R.I.P. Diana Rigg (Mrs. Peel) Quote
sidewinder Posted September 10, 2020 Report Posted September 10, 2020 She was on TV here last night in a new remake of ‘All Creatures Great and Small’. Worked right up until very recently. Didn’t see it, alas. Quote
sgcim Posted September 10, 2020 Report Posted September 10, 2020 Serious teenage crush on her as a kid. I won't get graphic. Loved the Avengers theme by Laurie Johnson (a close friend of Bernard Herrmann, a serious Anglophile), and figured it out and played it on the guitar. Was annoyed at her replacement, Linda Thorson for a while, but got used to her after a while. Quirky stories by the prolific Brian Clements When they brought back the Avengers with Joanna Lumley, all that was left was the music score, which had an excellent polyrhythmic drummer playing on it.I don't know who it was, Randy Jones? DR was also in "The Hospital", written by Paddy Chayefsky, with Geo. C Scott, where she played the hippie daughter of an insane doctor, who murdered a bunch of patients in a NYC hospital. Then she played the daughter of Vincent Price in"Theater of Blood", a very witty horror flick where she helped her dad, VP, murder a bunch of theater critics, because they panned her father's performances in the theater. The murders were all taken from Skakespeare's plays. RIP, Mrs. Peel... Quote

Larry Kart Posted September 10, 2020 Report Posted September 10, 2020 My late wife and I saw Rigg in a very good Tom Stoppard play, "Night and Day," in London in 1978 0r '79. She was terrific in it. Quote
mikeweil Posted September 10, 2020 Report Posted September 10, 2020 R.I.P. I was kind of in love with her in my teens - such a good looking woman. Even more later, when she starred in one of those Hercule Poirot movies with Peter Ustinov. Quote
