Dave James Posted July 25, 2020 Report Posted July 25, 2020 (edited) Sad news indeed. IMO, one of the two or three best guitarists to emerge from the 1960's British Invasion. Not just a great musician but an accomplished songwriter as well. His story is as tragic as any in the history or rock. Who knows where he might have gone or what he might have done had he not chosen to attend that now infamous LSD party outside of Munich, Germany in the Spring of 1970. https://youtu.be/mcZJCLce1cY Edited July 26, 2020 by Dave James Quote
RogerF Posted July 25, 2020 Report Posted July 25, 2020 Agreed Dave - The Supernatural from John Mayall's A Hard Road still sends shivers down my spine - PG was a simply superb guitarist and composer (Black Magic Woman!). R.I.P. Greenie. Quote
Tom in RI Posted July 25, 2020 Report Posted July 25, 2020 Tragic case, kind of obsessed with him. Quote
kh1958 Posted July 26, 2020 Report Posted July 26, 2020 Long one of my favorite blues/rock guitarists. Quote
sgcim Posted July 26, 2020 Report Posted July 26, 2020 Santana even played his solo on "Black Magic Woman". Great melodic conception. RIP , Mr. Green. Quote
felser Posted July 26, 2020 Report Posted July 26, 2020 He and Danny Kirwan did amazing work together in Fleetwood Mac, and IMO Green provided the best guitar of John Mayall's career . RIP. Quote
danasgoodstuff Posted July 26, 2020 Report Posted July 26, 2020 Green as sole guitar was wonderful (Spencer and he tended to take turns rather than really complimenting each other), Green & Kirwan was a two-headed guitar monster. Green was a fine singer and songwriter too. Quote
BFrank Posted July 26, 2020 Report Posted July 26, 2020 There's a pretty good doc about him on Amazon Prime, "The Peter Green Story: Man of the World" Quote

mjzee Posted August 23, 2020 Report Posted August 23, 2020 https://www.timesofisrael.com/the-last-blues-of-peter-green/ On December 25, 1980, the Fleetwood Mac founder, who passed away last month, walked into a studio in Tel Aviv and left behind a rare recording of bewitching sadness Two studio recordings are embedded in the article. EKE BBB Posted August 24, 2020 Report Posted August 24, 2020 Thanks for the hint! Just listened to those embedded recordings. Years after that fatal German trip, the guy still could play! Quote
