dprfish Posted June 14, 2020 Report Posted June 14, 2020 Anyone checked this out? Very nice repertoire, and beautifully sung. "If She Walked Into My Life" particularly floored me. Quote
Dave James Posted June 15, 2020 Report Posted June 15, 2020 Monro was very much under appreciated. As others more knowledgeable than I have suggested, his failure to gain the sort of traction he probably deserved was attributable to the fact that Sinatra had already been done. Quote

I haven't heard much else of Munro's work, but these recordings are exceptional. The attention paid to the intent of the lyrics, the phrasing, the interplay with the band - it's all there. Hadn't heard it before, but the liners say Capitol signed him as a "replacement" for Nat King Cole. Quote
