Mark Stryker Posted June 1, 2020 Report Posted June 1, 2020 I don't suppose anyone here has any interest in hearing what apparently is a previously unknown phone interview with Charlie Parker that aired on the radio in 1954. Nah, didn't think so ... but here it is anyway. Quote
Brad Posted June 1, 2020 Report Posted June 1, 2020 Wonder if that was a call out of the blue or pre-arranged. Quote
Quasimado Posted June 1, 2020 Report Posted June 1, 2020 Many Thanks: Always good to hear Bird! Quote
BillF Posted June 1, 2020 Report Posted June 1, 2020 Fascinating stuff. But the interviewers were so square in those days. I was present at an interview in the later 1960s in Harrogate, UK of Lenny Tristano by a guy from BBC Yorkshire who was a pain. Brings to mind that famous short film, "The Interview". P.S. Looks like the Petterstein skit was in 1955, i.e. shortly after the Parker interview. I think there are sufficient echoes to link the two. Quote
Spontooneous Posted June 1, 2020 Report Posted June 1, 2020 Listen to Bird rattle off the names of lesser-known Stravinsky pieces! Quote
