Hardbopjazz Posted May 29, 2020 Report Posted May 29, 2020 He's 92 today. All the best Freddie. I'm listening to his last session right now from 2016, "With Due Respect." Quote
Justin V Posted May 29, 2020 Report Posted May 29, 2020 I went on a Freddie Redd kick last year. I think of him as being in the same league as pianist/composers like Elmo Hope and Herbie Nichols. For as long as he has been on the scene, he has been under-recorded. Happy Birthday, Mr. Redd! Quote

He's way under recorded. He did for sometime seem to disappear. So maybe he himself had something to do with it. Quote
bertrand Posted May 29, 2020 Report Posted May 29, 2020 Freddie made a lot of private live recordings during his time in the DC area, some with Butch Warren. In 2020, I am completely baffled by the legality of all of this, but you can watch a lot of it on YouTube. I hope someday some audio can be officially released. Bertrand. Quote
jlhoots Posted May 29, 2020 Report Posted May 29, 2020 The 2CD Mosaic is a favorite. Happy Birthday. Quote
