B, give me your Bing Crosby Columbia box!  B)

Say, wasn't that Trumbauer done by the same guy that did the Bix?  Yeah, I paid an arm and a leg--well, maybe a prosthetic arm and a leg--for the Bix version.  Worth it, though, if you're a fan.

Ghost,

That is the MCA box set, covering the years 1931 to 1957. Wish someone would do better than just a greatest hits box set, but then again, how could I afford it? Damn, good eyes though! :eye:

Here is the Columbia Box I do have, just 3 cds, crap sound, but great liner notes from Michael Brooks(who met his hero Bing, to be let down a bit by the real Bing) with may alternate tracks, and rarities, which most people buying set would not be aware of!

You're right, Berigan--I got my boxes mixed up. It is indeed the CBS one that I covet, though, even though I now have some of the material in the BIX RESTORED CDs. I love early Bing. Have you read Gary Giddins' bio? Hopefully the second volume will come out soon, but jazz lovers of the 1920s and early 30s will find much to enjoy in A POCKETFUL OF DREAMS.

I have my own armored car and four operators. . . .

Dr. Rat you are so much better looking than we imagined! ^_^

That's one of our old morning DJs (and our old studio).

I'm wracking my brain trying to remember her name -- I think she went to Specs in Detroit.

My first thought when I saw this thread was "isn't it a bit foolish to broadcast to the world how big your CD collection is, what with theives, unscrupulous poeple, etc." Then I thought, yeah; right. Like it isn't obvious that almost everyone here has more CDs than is good for them...

Yes, I can imagine thieves sitting down thinking, "Right, let's go for the big one this time. We'll scour the net, find some big jazz collections, discover where their owners live, rob the houses and then retire to the south of Spain on the fortune we earn as a result!'

Didn't see the organissimo cd prominently displayed in any of those collections... :w;)

Berigan, when I stopped listening to metal, Megadeth had like 4 albums out!!! I preferred Slayer, anyway. :g

Slayer doesn't Slay me! :P Actually, I do have their Punk covers cd, which no fans seemed to like, which explains why I do I guess. What is a good place to start with them, anyway? I got into metal late, about the time it was dying...a day late and a dollar short I am...

Reign in Blood is their "classic," but I would recommend starting with Seasons in the Abyss first. There are some great songs on SITA and it is more in line with what a fan of Megadeth would enjoy imo.

why are your shelves so high?

Higher shelves equals more storage space? Is there a step-up contraption at the bottom-right of the pic?

MORE shelves equal more storage space. With higher I meant the distance between the shelves in one unit. Looks like 2 CDs would fit on top of each other. So why not have two shelves.
