jazzcorner Posted March 23, 2020 Report Posted March 23, 2020 (edited) Hi Everyone We learned from a friend in NYC that Mike Longo, Dizzy Gillespie's longtime pianist / music director, passed away this morning. Mike was infected with Covid-19 after performing with his big band at a benefit concert a week or so ago. He turned 81 on March 19. Mike remained active in the music business to the end, and will be greatly missed by fans and friends in the U.S. and around the world.
